At The Roadmap, we’ve helped over 300 Irish businesses grow rapidly, and we are now expanding into the UK, Spain, and beyond. As our team grows, we are looking for a skilled, experienced, and highly reliable Senior Web Developer to join our core website delivery team.

This is a hybrid freelance role based in Madrid, requiring 2 days per week in our central Madrid office, with the remaining days remote. There is a clear pathway to transition into a full-time role with increased responsibilities and leadership opportunities over time.

You will work on a variety of websites, primarily WordPress and Shopify, bringing technical excellence, problem-solving skills, and long-term strategic thinking to each project.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building and maintaining websites on WordPress and Shopify
• Handling complex technical tasks beyond junior developers' scope, including integrations and performance optimizations
• Providing clear, prompt responses to internal team questions and occasional client communication via managers
• Supporting hosting setups, domain transfers, backups, and email configurations
• Resolving technical issues swiftly and effectively to ensure timely project delivery
• Staying updated with modern web UI trends, automation tools, and AI applications in web development
• Collaborating with an experienced, long-standing team

This Role Is For Someone Who…

• Has 5+ years of hands-on web development experience, ideally 7 to 10 years
• Is fluent in WordPress and Shopify, with experience across multiple client websites
• Understands hosting platforms like Hostinger, SiteGround, and others, and can deploy websites effectively
• Communicates clearly and honestly, able to explain technical issues without jargon
• Can work independently and as part of a team focused on building smart, scalable systems
• Delivers high-quality work without overcomplicating or cutting corners
• Wants to grow within a team that values good work, trust, and integrity
