At The Roadmap, we’ve helped over 300 Irish businesses grow rapidly, and we’re now expanding into the UK, Spain, and beyond. As our team grows, we’re seeking a skilled, experienced, and reliable Senior Web Developer to join our core website delivery team.

This hybrid freelance role is based in Madrid, requiring 2 days per week in our central Madrid office, with the rest remote. There is a clear pathway to transition into a full-time role with increased responsibilities and leadership opportunities over time.

You will work on a variety of websites, primarily WordPress and Shopify, bringing technical excellence, problem-solving skills, and long-term thinking to each project.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll collaborate with our developers, designers, and project leads to:

• Build and maintain websites on WordPress and Shopify
• Handle complex technical tasks beyond junior developers’ scope, including integrations and performance optimizations
• Provide clear, prompt responses to internal team inquiries and occasional client communication via managers
• Support hosting setups, domain transfers, backups, and email configurations
• Resolve technical issues swiftly and effectively to ensure timely project delivery
• Stay informed about modern web UI, automation tools, and AI applications in web development
• Work with a stable, experienced team with 3 to 5+ years of collaboration

This Role Is For Someone Who…

• Has 5+ years of hands-on web development experience, ideally 7 to 10 years
• Is proficient in WordPress and Shopify, with experience across multiple client websites
• Understands hosting platforms like Hostinger, SiteGround, and others, and can deploy websites effectively
• Communicates clearly and honestly, capable of explaining technical issues without jargon
• Can work independently and as part of a long-term team focused on building smart systems
• Delivers quality work without cutting corners or overcomplicating solutions
• Wants to grow within a team that values good work, trust, and integrity
