At The Roadmap, we’ve helped over 300 Irish businesses grow quickly, and we’re expanding into the UK, Spain, and beyond. As our team grows, we’re seeking a skilled, experienced, and reliable Senior Web Developer to join our core website delivery team.

This hybrid freelance role is based in Madrid, requiring 2 days per week in our central Madrid office, with the rest remote. There is a clear pathway to transition into a full-time position with increased responsibilities and leadership opportunities over time.

You will work on various websites, primarily WordPress and Shopify, bringing technical excellence, problem-solving skills, and long-term thinking to each project.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will collaborate with developers, designers, and project leads to:

• Build and maintain websites on WordPress and Shopify
• Handle complex technical tasks beyond junior developers’ scope, including integrations and performance optimizations
• Provide prompt, clear responses to internal team questions and occasional client email replies via managers
• Support hosting setups, domain transfers, backups, and email configurations
• Resolve technical issues efficiently, ensuring timely delivery of quality work
• Stay updated on modern web UI, automation tools, and AI applications in web development
• Work with a stable, experienced team that has collaborated for 3 to 5+ years

This Role Is For Someone Who…

• Has 5+ years of hands-on web development experience (ideally 7-10)
• Is fluent in WordPress and Shopify, with experience across multiple client websites
• Understands hosting platforms like Hostinger, SiteGround, and others, and can deploy websites
• Communicates clearly and honestly, explaining technical issues without jargon
• Can work independently and as part of a long-term team focused on building smart systems
• Delivers high-quality work without cutting corners or overcomplicating solutions
• Wants to grow with a team that values good work, trust, and integrity
