Within the limits of his/her authority letter, to underwrite new business and/or renew the portfolio. These responsibilities could eventually be multiline.
Key Responsibilities
New Business
- Manage New Business submissions within the scope (territorial/broker/type of risk/product, as designated by the Head of Line of Business and according to his/her respective Letter of Authority).
- Populate quotes on the IT System (BEITS) including data collection, rating, pricing, underwriting analysis, wordings, etc.
- Issue quotes and follow up on them.
- Authorize in BEITS to lower-empowered underwriters (when applicable) and/or BENET users, when required.
- Issue policies and policy amendments that cannot be outsourced to Portfolio Management (BeService).
- Monitor non-tacit renewals of issued policies and amendments that cannot be outsourced, and issue renewal proposals to brokers.
- Support the Head of Line of Business in portfolio performance monitoring, if required.
- Assist Business Developers and/or Head of Market Facing Teams in sales initiatives with brokers (meetings, presentations, trainings).
- Develop and grow a knowledgeable producer population, including strategic and tactical broker/producer development planning.
- Build strong relationships with brokers (local/region) to meet or exceed financial goals including growth, profit, retention, and new business.
General
- Read, understand, and sign personal authority letters and technical guidelines, acting within their scope.
- Collaborate effectively with local underwriting, operations, legal, and claims teams.
- Engage in innovation initiatives, product launches, marketing campaigns, and projects to contribute to the company's success.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Stay current with compliance, procedural, and workflow changes; ensure activities comply with laws and regulations.
Reporting
- Report to the Head of Line of Business (technically) and the Head of Custom (hierarchically).
Shared Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Head of Line of Business to comply with UW Governance and Sales Strategy, attend Business Team Committee Meetings, and coordinate with other Lines of Business.
Nature of Hierarchical and Direct Collectives
Economic Management
- Achieve the financial plan of the Lines of Business (GWP, Commissions, ILR, and the overall Custom Plan).
Qualifications
Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the insurance market in similar roles.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Desire to pursue relevant professional qualifications.
