Overview

Pangea Aerospace develops advanced propulsion systems for the space industry with a focus on high efficiency, sustainability, and reusability. We are building the propulsion provider for the next generation of spacecraft and operate as a multinational team in Barcelona and Toulouse. We have a track record including the world\'s first 3D-printed Methalox Aerospike engine and are committed to diversity and inclusion as part of our success.

We are looking for a Senior Turbopump Engineer to join our Barcelona team. You will contribute to the development of turbopumps for the Arcos aerospike engine and the Kronos full-flow staged combustion engine, collaborating across systems, combustion devices, and feed system groups to shape Europe\'s future high-thrust propulsion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of turbopumps for the Arcos aerospike engine and Kronos full-flow staged combustion engine
  • Ensure turbopump designs meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements
  • Work with the Turbopump team within the Propulsion department
  • Collaborate with Systems, Combustion Devices, and Feed System teams for seamless integration
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to achieve turbopump milestones
  • Conduct progress reviews and report status to stakeholders
  • Lead problem-solving and drive innovation in turbopump technology
  • Plan and oversee testing and validation activities for turbopumps
  • Analyze test data and implement design improvements based on results
  • Ensure thorough documentation of design and development activities
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Stay updated with advancements in turbopump and propulsion technologies
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement to enhance turbopump performance
What you need to be successful
  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in turbopump or rocket engine development
  • In-depth knowledge of turbopump design, analysis, and optimization for rocket engines
  • Strong understanding of liquid rocket engine systems, including aerospike and full-flow staged combustion technologies
  • Proficiency with advanced simulation tools (CFD, FEA) for fluid dynamics and structural integrity
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements for space propulsion
  • Experience with high-thrust engine development projects
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities
  • Proven ability to manage projects, including timelines, resources, and budgets
Other useful skills
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Previous involvement in European space propulsion projects
  • Knowledge of advanced materials and manufacturing techniques for turbopumps
  • Experience with cryogenic propellants and handling
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving project requirements
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Spanish and French is a plus
  • Meticulous attention to detail for accurate designs and analyses
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
