Job summary

Semidynamics in Barcelona seeks an experienced Senior IC Thermal Engineer to own the thermal path from die junction to facility water, including on-die hotspots, package spreading, cold plate design, sled airflow and rack-level heat rejection.

As a Senior IC, you set the thermal budget the hardware team designs against, leading CFD studies, thermal validation, and cross-functional collaboration with mechanical and power teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in electronics thermal engineering for high-power computing or datacentre.
• Proven ownership of a processor/GPU/ASIC/FPGA thermal budgets at high TDP.
• Strong CFD experience with Icepak/Flotherm/Star-CCM+ or equivalent.
• Liquid cooling design: cold plates, flow budgets, loop behaviour.
• Knowledge of TIM selection and bond line reliability.
• Hands-on thermal validation and model-to-measurement correlation.

Responsibilities

• Build detailed thermal models of die, package and board; run CFD and conjugate heat transfer studies for cold plate, sled and rack.
• Define thermal interface requirements and bond line targets; own junction temperature budget across all rails and dies.
• Define flow distribution, coolant temperature and approach; set the thermal design envelope for the sled and rack.
• Validate on real silicon with instrumentation, on-die sensor correlation, flow and pressure measurements; partner with mechanical and power teams and cooling vendors.
