Matchtech is recruiting a Senior Technician/Engineer for a Barcelona-based service role supporting maintenance, repair and refit of luxury sailing yachts up to 90 feet.

You will work across steering, propulsion, mechanical and plumbing systems with a hands-on approach, delivering high-quality servicing to strict industry standards. Fluent English and Spanish are required, EU work rights preferred.

Formación

• Minimum 5 years in marine engineering.

The Role

As a Senior Technician / Engineer within the Service department, based in Barcelona (Port Premià), you will play an important role in supporting the maintenance, repair and refit of luxury sailing yachts up to 90 feet. Working across a wide range of marine steering, propulsion, mechanical and plumbing systems, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality servicing, repairs and refit work to exceptional industry standards.

This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong marine engineering knowledge, practical problem-solving skills and a proactive approach. You will work closely with the wider service team to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Service and repair marine steering systems, including dropping rudders, replacing rudder bearings and carrying out comprehensive steering system servicing.
• Carry out propulsion system works including removing propeller shafts, servicing propellers, replacing cutlass bearings, shaft seals, thrust bearings and flexible bearings.
• Overhaul and refit engine rooms, including engine replacements and basic servicing of marine engines.
• Service and replace seacocks and carry out servicing and maintenance of marine pumps.
• Carry out mechanical maintenance, repairs and refit activities across luxury sailing yachts.
• Produce accurate technical reports and maintain clear communication with team members and relevant stakeholders.
• Organise workload effectively and ensure agreed work schedules and deadlines are strictly maintained.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, cleanliness and safety throughout all activities.
• Work collaboratively with the wider service team to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to the required standards.

About You

• Minimum of 5 years' professional experience within the marine engineering sector.
• Valid EU work permit or existing legal right to work in Spain.
• Strong practical knowledge and experience across marine steering, propulsion, mechanical and plumbing systems.
• Proven experience servicing, repairing and refitting marine systems on yachts or boats.
• Strong mechanical engineering and practical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, precision and commitment to high standards of workmanship.
• Ability to organise your own workload and work effectively to agreed schedules and deadlines.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish.
• Proactive, self-motivated and able to work effectively under pressure.
• Reliable, professional and committed approach to work.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Positive attitude with a strong commitment to teamwork.
• Tidy and organised approach, with pride in maintaining a clean and professional working environment.

Qualifications & Desirable Experience

• Marine Engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience in metal fabrication and machining.
• Experience carrying out GRP repairs.
• Experience working on luxury yachts, sailing yachts or within the wider marine industry.
• Strong understanding of marine mechanical systems and preventative maintenance techniques.
• Experience undertaking refit, repair and maintenance projects within a boatyard or service environment would be advantageous.
