PSD Group, a global technology and communications organisation, is modernising its observability, provisioning and configuration management platforms. Based in Barcelona, you will join an international engineering team to define, architect and implement complex software and platform capabilities.

We seek a hands-on Senior System Engineer with 10+ years' experience in observability, monitoring ecosystems (Grafana, Prometheus, OTLP), and distributed systems.

Formación

• 10+ years in Senior System Engineer, Senior Software Engineer or equivalent in complex software environments.
• Experience with observability and monitoring ecosystems, Grafana/Loki/Mimir/Prometheus.
• Proven platform/network system integration, monitoring, configuration management, APIs, microservices.
• Strong architecture and distributed systems expertise; modern programming paradigms.
• Ability to lead technical discussions across distributed teams; autonomous delivery.

Our client is a global technology and communications organisation providing mission‑critical digital infrastructure and services to the aviation industry. Its technology supports airlines, airports and other aviation stakeholders across a highly distributed international environment, where reliability, scalability and operational resilience are essential.

As part of a major technology modernisation initiative, the business is evolving its platforms for monitoring, observability, provisioning and configuration management. This role will contribute to that transformation, working with engineering teams across Europe and North America.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands‑on Senior System Engineer to contribute to the modernisation of next‑generation Datalink observability, monitoring, provisioning and configuration management platforms.

Based in Barcelona and working collaboratively with an international engineering team, you will contribute specialist technical expertise to the definition, architecture, design and implementation of complex software and platform capabilities.

The role requires someone who can operate autonomously, bring proven industry experience to complex technical challenges, and contribute across the full engineering lifecycle from concept and system definition through to production implementation.

Contractor Working Arrangement

The engagement is structured around the delivery of defined technical services and project outcomes.

Due to the collaborative and operational nature of the project, the services are expected to include approximately three days per week working from the project site in Barcelona, with the remaining services capable of being delivered remotely where appropriate. The on‑site requirement reflects the operational and collaborative needs of the project, including access to relevant teams, technical environments and project activities.

The contractor will retain professional autonomy over the manner in which the services are delivered, subject to agreed project requirements, deliverables, security, confidentiality and site‑access arrangements. The engagement is for the provision of specialist technical services and is not intended to create an employment relationship between the contractor and the client.

What we are looking for

Required Experience

• 10+ years' experience as a Senior System Engineer, Senior Software Engineer or equivalent technical role within complex software, platform or technology environments.
• Strong experience with observability and monitoring ecosystems, including Grafana Labs technologies such as Alloy, Loki, Mimir or Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry Protocol (OTLP).
• Proven experience in platform or network system integration, monitoring, configuration management, APIs, microservices and scalable backend systems.
• Strong expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, enterprise application development and modern programming paradigms and frameworks.
• Strong problem‑solving capability, with the ability to lead and coordinate technical discussions across complex engineering environments.
• Experience working effectively within international and geographically distributed engineering teams.
• Proven ability to work autonomously, take ownership of technical deliverables and operate effectively with limited day‑to‑day direction.
• Proficiency in leveraging AI‑powered tools to support requirements management, static analysis, test automation, documentation and software engineering activities.

Preferred Experience

• Experience within aviation, telecommunications, networking or other mission‑critical technology environments.
• Knowledge of operational support systems, configuration management and service management environments.
• Familiarity with technologies and standards such as ServiceNow.
• Experience with container orchestration and modern observability ecosystems.
• Experience working within globally distributed engineering organisations.
• Hands‑on experience integrating AI‑powered tools into system definition, architecture, design and development.
