ATG Europe is seeking an Enterprise Platform Engineer for ESA in Madrid to administer, evolve, and modernize enterprise collaboration, service management, and software platforms. The role covers platform administration, modernization, cloud adoption, and DevOps practices within an Agile team.

You will work with Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence, contributing to upgrades, automation, and documentation, with a focus on cross-functional collaboration and operational excellence.

Competenze

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of at least one programming language such as Java or Python.
• Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems and shell scripting.
• Understanding of REST APIs and web services.
• Experience using Git.
• Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MariaDB.

We are seeking a motivated, hands‑on Enterprise Platform Engineer on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) for their location in Madrid, Spain, to help administer, evolve, and modernize enterprise collaboration, service management, and software platforms.. Please be aware that this position is initially intended to be filled on a full-time basis until 01/01/2027 when it will become part-time for 28 hours per week.

The successful candidate will support the operation, maintenance, customization, and continuous improvement of business-critical services, with particular involvement in the Atlassian ecosystem, including Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence. The role also o5ers exposure to platform modernization, cloud adoption, software development, automation, and operational support.

This position combines platform administration, software engineering, automation, Linux systems administration, and DevOps practices. As part of an Agile team, the successful candidate will work with users, service owners, developers, and infrastructure engineers across the full-service lifecycle—from requirements analysis and implementation to deployment, troubleshooting, maintenance, and documentation

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

Enterprise Platform Administration

• Support the administration, maintenance, and operation of enterprise collaboration and service management platforms;

• Contribute to the configuration and maintenance of projects, workflows, permissions, request types, automations, integrations, and user‑facing services;

• Support users and stakeholders in the effective adoption and use of enterprise platforms;

• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve platform, application, and user‑related issues;

• Assist with platform upgrades, maintenance activities, and lifecycle management;

• Produce and maintain operational procedures, user documentation, and technical notes.

Platform Modernization and Cloud Adoption

• Contribute to platform modernization and cloud‑adoption initiatives;

• Assist in the migration of on‑premises services towards cloud‑based solutions;

• Participate in testing, validation, and deployment activities;

Quality Assurance and Engineering Practices

• Engage in Agile development practices including Sprint Planning, Reviews, Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinement;
