Cloudera is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer, Spark (Java) to design and build distributed data engineering components for CDP. You will work on Spark/Livy, scale to thousands of nodes, and help deliver enterprise-grade data processing at petabyte scale.

You will collaborate with teams across the US and Europe, contribute to Spark and Iceberg/Parquet, and own features from prototype to production. This role emphasizes high performance, reliability, and mentoring others in best practices.

Formación

• Bsc/Msc in related field or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of professional software development.
• Experience leading and delivering complex product enhancements.
• Proficiency in Java/Scala/Python; willingness to learn others.
• Experience with systems design and development.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and independence.

Responsabilidades

• Design new features for Cloudera’s data engineering experience and lead from prototype to production.
• Contribute to Apache Spark, Livy, and related projects.
• Develop features in Scala/Java/Python on modern platforms.
• Gain expertise in distributed data processing, including SQL planners and storage formats like Parquet and Iceberg.
• Understand Cloudera Data Engineering stack focusing on Iceberg and Spark for daily tasks.
• Work on large-scale distributed systems running on many nodes in production.
