We are seeking a Java developer to contribute to a "Regulatory data exchange" project. The role involves working across all layers of the project to develop a comprehensive understanding and enable long-term independence.

The project primarily uses Java, complemented by various open-source frameworks such as Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Scala, Hadoop, and Angular.

While the focus is on backend development, a broad range of backend skills and experience will be advantageous.

More about the role & team

Our small development team in Valencia consists of 2 developers, with full ownership of one of Confluence's flagship products, Silverfinch—a data exchange and distribution platform used mainly by asset managers and investors. Silverfinch has been operational for over 10 years and is currently in maintenance mode. With the addition of a third team member, we aim to upgrade the platform and introduce new features to improve its performance.

Working hours are typically 8:00-17:00 or 9:00-18:00, with daily stand-up meetings. After training, the individual will take ownership of specific application components. Flexibility in work hours may be required due to our global workforce, and occasional after-hours on-call responsibilities may arise.

What skills and experience do I need to succeed?

Required skills & experience

• At least 5 years of software development experience
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written
• Quality-oriented, self-motivated, quick learner
• Familiarity with the Java open-source ecosystem

• Spark and Hadoop
• Experience with MVC projects
• Relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
• Experience with Jooq or similar ORM tools
