Job Description

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join the Service Infrastructure team. This is a critical role responsible for maintaining the health, automation, and scalability of our large-scale infrastructure systems. You will collaborate closely with product and platform engineering teams to ensure high availability and reliability of Affirm services. We are looking for engineers with strong coding or operations backgrounds who are passionate about scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure, and who take pride in creating self-healing, secure, and resilient systems.

What You’ll Do:

• Analyze and review internal Affirm applications to design and implement improvements.
• Ensure high availability of our cloud infrastructure.
• Optimize Kubernetes clusters and resources.
• Manage infrastructure using best practices of infrastructure as code.
• Maintain business continuity and compliance through secure and resilient infrastructure.
• Provide self-service solutions for engineers to streamline workflows.
• Write high-quality, testable, and maintainable code that serves as best practice templates.
• Review code and designs, providing constructive feedback to uphold quality standards.
• Design and expand monitoring and visibility systems to ensure service stability.
• Guide product development teams on performance, reliability, and scalability issues.
• Provide daily and on-call support to engineering teams.
• Optimize systems and code for cost efficiency, security, and compliance.

Your Core Skills:

• At least 6 years of industry experience, including 4+ years in DevOps roles.
• Proven coding skills, preferably in Python, Golang, or Kotlin.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes.
• Experience with public cloud providers, preferably AWS.
• Design and development of highly available systems (99.99%+ SLA).
• Experience with infrastructure as code, preferably Terraform.
• Mentoring and enabling other engineers.
• Extensive knowledge of monitoring solutions (e.g., Prometheus, ELK).
• Experience in cost management.

Additional Skills:

• Developing multi-region cloud solutions.
• Solid experience in cloud networking both on cloud and within Kubernetes.
• Experience with databases and optimizing their usage within infrastructure.
• Good knowledge of SDLC tooling, including CI/CD systems, artifact, and container repositories.
