Santander Auto Software is an exciting new greenfield programme currently at early stages, where we are building a brand-new, state-of-the-art software platform and product suite for the auto finance industry, that will be rolled out across Europe.

The business is 100% tech-focused, remote-first, and comprised of skilled cross-border software builders, with a leadership team that has accomplished backgrounds.

You will be partners with, not just providers to, colleagues in product and the business. There will be no order takers and no order givers. Together with your partners in product and business, you will share equally in decisions about features, dates, and priorities. More importantly, you will share equally in the results produced by the software you help build and evolve. That’s a lot of responsibility, but we believe that’s the new role of technology in every part of our lives, and as software builders, we’re excited to co-own the results, not just the effort.

What are we looking for?

We seek skilled backend-focused software engineers with experience working with Java (or Kotlin), Spring Boot, Kubernetes, and AWS, who have experience working in a software-on-demand production environment. You will build cloud-native, AWS-based, greenfield software and will have the time and support to invent solutions to a wide variety of user, business, and technical challenges. We have no generic roles, and your software will not be of the cut-and-paste or configure-and-assemble variety. We operate a 'build it and own it' culture, so you will have a DevOps and individual contributor mindset.

Key technical experience :

• Software development in Java (Spring Boot) or Kotlin — design, build, and deploy
• Production deployment experience working with AWS
• Experience with automated build and test systems for CI/CD (using Docker, Jenkins, etc.)
• Experience with true Agile practices and a DevOps mindset

These will be key hires for backend squads and will help shape this area of the business for scale, making you a vital part of our fast-growing global team!
