About the Team: Cell is the flagship journal at Cell Press, publishing advances in biomedical sciences. Cell editors engage with the scientific community to catalyze discovery and discourse. About the Role: We seek a full-time Scientific Editor to join our editorial team. If you are enthusiastic, motivated, dynamic, mission-oriented, a team player, and passionate about science, this role could be ideal for you. We welcome applicants with expertise in any topic covered by the journal (https://www.cell.com/cell/aims), especially those with experience in computational biology, genetics/genomics, cancer biology, machine learning, or clinical and translational research. The position is open to candidates at both entry and senior levels.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Recruit exciting research studies and review material
2. Assess submitted research papers
3. Oversee the peer review process and publication of papers
4. Engage with the scientific community through labs and conferences to learn about developments and establish relationships
5. Develop and execute strategies in specific topics covered by the journal

Qualifications:

1. Broad interests, love of science, and a desire to learn. Ability to understand and evaluate diverse scientific fields covered by Cell, appreciating the issues and questions that drive different disciplines.
2. Strong communication skills. Ability to help authors clarify and make their messages compelling for readers.
3. Interest in digital communication and publishing trends.
4. Creativity, willingness to experiment, and a desire to improve processes.
5. Excellent organization, prioritization, and focus skills.
6. Great interpersonal skills. Collaboration, teamwork, and networking are essential.
7. PhD in a relevant discipline. Candidates with research group management or industry experience are also encouraged to apply.
