About the role

In this pivotal role, you will lead internal safety investigations, manage corrective actions, and act as a key liaison with regulatory authorities. Your responsibilities will include preparing detailed reports on safety events, supporting operational risk assessments, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory standards.

To be successful, you will bring strong technical report writing skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in safety and reporting software. You’ll be known for your fair and proactive approach, with the ability to maintain professional relationships and build trust across all levels of the organisation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct and lead internal investigations including managing corrective, remedial, and preventative actions.
  • Compile reports on safety events as delegated by the Head of Safety & Quality or delegate
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with safety standards and expectations.
  • Support the Risk Assessment Register process and the risk assessment of identified hazards
  • Assist in the preparation of material for regulatory reports
  • Promote an organisational culture that fosters safety practices through awareness programs and effective leadership
  • Report to relevant accountable managers on SMS performance and areas needing improvement
  • Ensure that the operating environment is consistent with defined goals, objectives, and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure emergency equipment’s and safety supplies are maintained to conform with the regulatory safety standard
  • Participate in emergency response planning and provide timely advice on safety matters
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities to ensure project alignment with safety standards and regulatory expectation
  • Ensure that all projects meet the required quality standards and regulatory requirement
  • Assist in creating safety training for the company as assigned by the Head of Safety & Quality or delegate
  • Assist in conducting audits throughout the organisation as required
  • Conduct any other activities required by the Head of Safety & Quality or delegate
Skills and Experience
  • Fair, assertive, impartial, truthful, and proactive, demonstrates integrity, has initiative and is a self-starter
  • Client focused and an ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with staff, key suppliers, service providers, external stakeholders
  • Understanding of CASA Regulatory framework relevant to Safety oversight and AOC operations.
  • Excellent technical report writing skills
  • High level of personal and professional integrity and confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral (including presentation) and written and is an objective thinker
  • Proficiency in the use of Windows based software, in particular spreadsheet and database applications
  • Formal qualification in Investigations
  • Formal qualification as a lead auditor (desirable)
