Job summary

Thomson Reuters, a global information-services company, seeks a Senior Legal Counsel for SaaS & Technology Transactions in Madrid. You will draft, negotiate and advise on software licenses, data protection and security agreements, and related commercial contracts.

The role collaborates with Sales, Product and Legal to enable business growth while managing risk. The ideal candidate has 5+ years PQE, strong English, robust contract knowledge, and a strategic, business-focused approach to privacy

Qualifications

5 years minimum post qualification experience in private practice and/or as in-house counsel advising on the sell side.
Excellent written/verbal English language communication skills.
Excellent technical legal knowledge in contract and commercial law, particularly with SaaS products and solutions.
Excellent negotiation and drafting skills.
Ability to think strategically and creatively, to identify and resolve legal issues.
Authorisation to practice law.
Candidates will need to have a commercial focus and real interest in privacy, data protection and cybersecurity knowledge.

Responsibilities

Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of customer facing and partner agreements, primarily software (including SaaS) and information licensing agreements.
Work within the Customers & Commercial team identifying legal, regulatory and compliance requirements and risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Research and respond to general legal inquiries from internal customers and advise on appropriate legal action.
