We are looking for a Senior Risk & Compliance Officer to oversee risk management and compliance activities for the Spanish Branch of Monzo Bank Europe. In this role, you will implement Monzo99s Risk Management Framework in Spain, monitor the Branch99s key material risks covering operational, conduct and compliance risks, and support regulatory engagements particularly with Banco de España.
Acting as a trusted advisor to the Spain Branch Manager, you will provide independent oversight, challenge and advice across a broad spectrum of risks including Credit, Operational, ICT/Security, Conduct, Compliance and Business risks. You will maintain strict functional independence via your reporting lines into the EU Risk Directors.
This role sits within the Second Line of Defense (2LOD) and reports functionally to the EU Director of Operational Risk and the EU Director of Conduct & Compliance Risk, and operationally to the Spain Branch Manager.
This role includes acting as the Customer Service Representative of the Branch in accordance with article 5 of Order ECO/734/2004 and as the Deputy MLRO for Spain, supporting the MLRO in overseeing compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) regulations, and providing 2LOD coverage and backup when required.
The role you are applying for is a Controlled Function (CF-2) within the meaning of the Central Bank Reform Act, 2010. For this role, appointment will be conditional on Monzo being fully satisfied that the appointee meets the requirements as set out in the Fitness and Probity Standards issued by the Central Bank of Ireland. As a CF, the role holder will be subject to Conduct Standards under the Central Bank of Ireland Individual Accountability Framework (IAF) and will be required to take reasonable steps to ensure that the relevant conduct standards are met.

A salary range of €75,000 - €95,000 + Incentive Awards tied to your performance
This role will have a hybrid working model, based in our Madrid office 2 - 3 days a week, however, you will be expected to travel to Monzo9s head offices in Dublin and/or London from time to time.
We offer flexible working hours and trust you to work enough hours to do your job well, and at times that suit you and your team.
Annual Leave - 38 days including public holidays
