Job Description

As an Employment Tax Associate, your main duty will be to act as the first point of contact for inquiries related to Employment Tax. As you evolve into a Subject Matter Expert, you will work closely with clients, guiding them through complex employment tax issues. This role entails ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, identifying opportunities for tax savings and operational improvements, and ensuring that Employment Tax practices are in sync with the broader business strategy and primary objectives.

Responsibilities

  1. Conducting tax briefings.
  2. Preparing and reviewing tax computations - withholding tax computation, advance tax etc.
  3. Preparing, reviewing and filing individual tax returns.
  4. Assisting in advisory projects including technical research, drafting memos, presentations etc.
  5. Assisting in tax assessments including preparing submissions to be made before the tax authorities and assisting in representations.
  6. Coordinating with tax authorities and visiting the tax office for regular follow-ups, rectifications, refund follow-ups etc.
  7. Regular interaction with client contacts and expatriates.

Qualifications

  1. 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  2. Strong knowledge of personal income tax, with expertise in expatriate tax considered an advantage, as well as familiarity with tax procedures related to these obligations.
  3. Up-to-date knowledge of current developments in taxation and their impact on individual tax obligations.
  4. Ability to coordinate and manage less experienced team members.
  5. Ability and inclination to read and interpret the law.
  6. Demonstrating innovative and critical thinking in managing projects.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  9. Good interpersonal skills.
  10. Passion for client servicing.
  11. Efficiency in MS Office and report writing skills.
  12. Ability to discuss basic technical issues, ask appropriate questions and gather relevant information from the client.
  13. Ownership and responsibility for tasks delegated.
