Job summary

Escape Velocity is seeking a highly motivated Test Manager to lead QA for a AAA game development team. You will oversee embedded testing, mentor QA leads and testers, and partner with cross‑functional leadership to balance quality, schedule, and risk.

You will define QA strategy, manage internal and external QA resources, supervise test planning and release readiness, coordinate platform certification, and drive data‑driven quality improvements across the project.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software QA with 3+ years managing teams in game development.
• Proven track record of shipping at least one major AAA title across the full development lifecycle.
• Expertise in developing test strategies, risk-based testing, and Agile methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Define global QA strategy, test objectives, quality gates, and risk-based testing for milestones.
• Integrate QA into early development planning to ensure quality is built in.
• Mentor and develop QA Leads and testers, fostering ownership and collaboration.
• Manage internal and external QA resources to meet project demands.
• Oversee test execution across functional, gameplay, performance, stability, multiplayer, and platform certification areas.
• Monitor defect trends and quality risks, prioritising issues to resolution.
• Analyze defect data to identify systemic quality issues and drive root cause analysis.
• Coordinate QA schedules and deliverables for milestones; assess build stability.
• Lead preparation for first-party certification, tracking risks to launches.
• Advocate for quality as the senior QA representative within leadership.
• Build partnerships across disciplines to share responsibility for quality.
• Manage external vendors and co-development QA teams; align with internal strategy.
• Implement data-driven reporting and dashboards to track build health and coverage.
• Improve QA efficiency through automation, tooling, and retrospectives.
