UST España & Latam is seeking an Application Owner / Python Developer to design, develop, and support business-critical applications for a banking client. The role is hybrid in Madrid, requiring three days in the office and two days remote.

You will act as the primary contact for the application, manage lifecycle activities, ensure security and compliance, and deliver reliable services. Strong Python, Django, Linux, and SQL experience are essential.

We are looking for an Application Owner / Python Developer with strong expertise in designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting business-critical applications to be part of the project of the client from the banking sector.

Work Location: Work model in hybrid in Madrid (3 days at the office, 2 WFH),

Main tasks and accountabilities will be:

• Act as the primary point of contact for an application which manages risk and control data, executes controls, and reports results.
• Plan and manage throughout the application lifecycle, bridging the gap between business stakeholders, development teams, infrastructure teams, and external vendors.
• Ensure that applications meet business requirements, comply with organizational standards, and deliver reliable services to end users.
• Ensure that all environments follow internal security guidelines, audit requirements, and industry standards.
• Design, develop, and maintain Python-based applications and services.

What do we expect from you?

• Linux-based application operations and deployment.
• Strong Python development skills with Django.
• Experience with SQL and enterprise databases (Oracle and Trino preferred).
• Experience with background processing and caching technologies. Eg. (Celery and Redis.)
• Web application development experience using JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• Experience with Git-based development and CI/CD workflows.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, especially in multi-system environments.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating environment readiness, issues, and dependencies.

Nice to have

• NGINX/Gunicorn administration.
• REST API design and system integrations.
• Authentication and authorization experience (SSO, RBAC).
