EAG is seeking a Project Manager for the ITER nuclear fusion program. The successful candidate will manage complex projects, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations while coordinating between multiple stakeholders. This role, located in Cantabria, requires strong leadership in high-precision manufacturing environments and offers the chance to work on pioneering international projects in the nuclear sector.

Formación

  • At least five years of project management experience in nuclear projects.
  • Additional training in project management (PMP, IPMA, PRINCE2...) is highly valued.
  • Experience in managing diverse teams in a multinational environment.

Project Manager – Advanced & Fusion Project (Cantabria)

International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER)

Job Description:

EAG is looking for candidates with solid experience in managing complex projects in the nuclear and manufacturing sectors. This position is focused on the coordination, contract management and strategic oversight of a manufacturing project for high-precision components, in the framework of the ITER nuclear fusion programme.

GENERAL TASKS

  • Act as the main point of contact between the client (Fusion for Energy) and the internal Steering Committee
  • Lead the project from a contractual and planning perspective, aligning internal teams and external partners
  • Coordinate the overall execution of the project: scope, budget, schedule, KPIs, risks, reporting, documentation
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and key milestones
  • Oversee project-wide risks and lead mitigation plans across involved areas
  • Facilitate communication between stakeholders to ensure project integration
  • Support strategic decisions through analysis of cost, planning and priorities
  • Monitor project deliverables and ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Validate progress reports, cost statements, invoicing and documentation
  • Follow up on internal actions and provide input to governance meetings
  • Maintain alignment with the project's objectives, budget and schedule
  • Supervise planning assumptions and updates of the project baseline
  • Support lessons learned tracking and project knowledge management
  • Contribute to the resolution of project-level blockages and interdependencies


CONTRACT MANAGEMENT TASKS

  • Monitor compliance with contractual clauses and obligations
  • Prepare and review contract amendments, deviation orders, and formal communications
  • Follow up on claim processes and support decision-making in compensation events
  • Support contractual interface with the client regarding scope, duration, documentation, resources and risks
  • Lead the integration of cost and technical information to support contractual evaluations
  • Review and analyse deviations and their impact on contractual interfaces, safety, deadlines and commercial aspects
  • Support the definition of procurement and contract strategies with partners
  • Follow up on purchase order approvals and related documentation
  • Track backup plans with subcontractors, integrating inputs from quality, procurement, engineering and planning


PROJECT SCOPE - MANUFACTURING

  • Understand key manufacturing milestones and their role in project success
  • Coordinate interfaces between control, quality, design, planning, and manufacturing teams
  • Support the prioritisation of activities from a global project view
  • Ensure alignment of project-level decisions with production needs and schedule
  • Follow up on the project deliverables related to manufacturing, without direct responsibility over technical or operational tasks
  • Support reporting to the client regarding manufacturing progress and contractual deliverables.

Skills:

  • At least five years of experience as Project Manager for nuclear project(s)
  • Complex Contract Management expertise
  • Experience in defining, organising and supervising complex projects
  • Procurement management and negotiation skills
  • Complex contract execution and stakeholder coordination
  • Interfacing with institutional clients
  • Managing planning, costs, risks and project documentation
  • Additional training in project management (PMP, IPMA, PRINCE2...) is highly valued
  • Experience in ITER will be valued
  • Other skills: experience managing diverse teams in multinational environment meeting challenging milestones and ensuring adherence to budget constraints.


Languages:

Spanish and English are mandatory. French would be a plus.

Required education:

Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.

Location:

Cantabria, some travel according to project needs.
