We are a dynamic high-tech company from Aachen with subsidiary BatterieIngenieure South Europe SL in Bilbao area, Spain. We deal with all electrochemical energy storage systems. The focus here is on Li-ion technologies and lead-acid batteries, but we also deal with SuperCaps, Ni-based technologies or primary cells are part of our work. The company has specialized in three core areas in the battery field. The first area covers all tests on cells, modules, and batteries. In addition to electrical tests, mechanical, thermal and safety tests are also carried out.


The spectrum of test specimens ranges from the smallest cells in so-called coin-cell format to HV batteries with a maximum voltage of 1,000 V. In the second subject area, the focus is on the development of hardware, models, and algorithms for the diagnostics of storage devices. The range of services is completed with the business area of technical consulting.


BatterieIngenieure South Europe is looking in Bilbao area (Spain) for an engineer for developing advanced diagnostic algorithms and models for batteries. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate, with a strong technical background and good communication skills towards customers and team members.


Responsibilities:

  1. Lead international industrial/research projects from technical and organizational point of view
  2. Lead technical discussions with customers
  3. Design, develop and validate control algorithms for battery state detection
  4. Develop, implement, and validate battery models
  5. Design Battery Management System (BMS) architecture for custom applications
  6. Design and supervise characterization and validation test procedures
  7. Evaluate and analyze test data
  8. Supervise junior engineers

Qualifications:

  1. Automation and system engineering / electronic engineering / mechanical engineering / data engineering / informatics engineering / physics (equivalent bachelor’s or master’s degrees). PhD in related fields is highly appreciated
  2. 3-4 years of experience in similar positions: batteries, model-based software
  3. Fluent spoken and written English. Knowledge of German is appreciated
  4. Good communication skills, able to work independently and proactively
  5. Experience with the following programming languages: MATLAB and Simulink. C and Python knowledge is also highly appreciated
