The work we do is at the forefront of ensuring safe water supplies for future generations and protecting our environment. Overview of role
Mott MacDonald is a market leader in the UK water sector, being a key supplier to major water companies and delivering a wide variety of engineering and advisory projects in support of the challenges faced by the sector. Working for a company like ours, with technical excellence at our core, offers you access to industry recognised experts in a variety of disciplines and the support and opportunities you are after for your career progression.
Our Water Consultancy Division has ambitious growth plans in line with AMP8 (2025-2030) investment needs and we are proud of our strong reputation in the industry which is allowing us to expand our business.
We cover all phases of the project lifecycle from feasibility studies through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning to handover. We also provide specialist technical support to colleagues across our global business, offering fantastic opportunities to get involved in diverse and technically complex work.
The scale of investment required in AMP8 is a significant challenge but also a major opportunity to provide a long-lasting legacy to our clients and their regions. It also requires new more efficient ways of delivering our services and for the successful candidate to demonstrate their ability to identify and implement innovations that maintain delivery to programme and commercial targets.
We are looking for a driven Senior or Principal Project Manager to play a pivotal role within our water engineering team.
As a Senior or Principal Project Manager, you will work with and manage a multidisciplinary team of technical specialists, delivering projects in close partnership with clients and contractors, building strong relationships that will enhance the company’s reputation and help secure further work.
In this role, you will lead the design of innovative and sustainable solutions to address leakage challenges, clean water provision, and sewage disposal across our water utility client’s assets, vital to meet the ever-growing societal demands of development, population growth, and climate change. Some of these projects are emergency work and reactive in nature - so you will need to lead fast-paced design, whilst managing change and impacts on the other projects within the wider programme.
You will be expected to coordinate project teams throughout the project lifecycle from design definition through to implementation, fulfilling all aspects to successfully manage projects including business management system compliance, technical quality assurance, programme and cost control management as well as leading client interface.
You will sometimes work closely with contractors, often on site, reacting to queries and changes. You will represent the company in meetings and supervise the work of more junior staff, providing technical and commercial guidance to support their development.
