The Role

This administrator will be a subject matter expert responsible for the operational health, performance, and governance of the core components of our modern data stack, built on Microsoft Azure.

The role focuses on the administration, optimisation, and security of our Azure Data Lake, Fivetran ingestion platform, Kafka streaming platform, Airflow orchestration environment, and Snowflake data warehouse, ensuring a reliable and efficient environment for all data operations.

Requirements

• Administer the Snowflake data warehouse (on Azure), including user/role management, resource monitoring, cost optimisation, and security controls.
• Manage and operate the Kafka/Confluent Cloud platform, including topic management, cluster health monitoring, and ensuring real-time data stream reliability.
• Administer the Fivetran platform, managing connectors, pipelines, and ensuring reliable data integration.
• Manage and operate the Airflow environment, including DAG deployment, connection management, and workflow reliability.
• Govern the Azure Data Lake (ADLS Gen2), managing access controls, storage policies, and data landing zones.
• Act as the technical point of contact for platform issues, liaising with security, network, and infrastructure teams within Azure.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Experience in Data Platform Administration, Data Operations, or Data Engineering within Azure.
• Deep expertise in the Microsoft Azure cloud ecosystem.
• Proficiency with Azure Data Lake, Azure Active Directory, Azure Networking (VNet, NSGs, Private Endpoints).
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Kafka, Fivetran, and Airflow administration.
• Understanding of platform integration patterns within Azure (VNet peering, firewall rules, private endpoints, authentication).
• Strong SQL skills and scripting abilities (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
• Operational experience with orchestration tools like Airflow.
• Previous experience in the Insurance or Financial Services sectors is a plus.
