The Role

This administrator will be a subject matter expert responsible for the operational health, performance, and governance of the core components of our modern data stack, built on Microsoft Azure. The role focuses on the administration, optimisation, and security of our Azure Data Lake, Fivetran ingestion platform, Kafka streaming platform, Airflow orchestration environment, and Snowflake data warehouse, ensuring a reliable and efficient environment for all data operations.

Requirements

• Administer the Snowflake data warehouse (running on Azure), including user/role management, resource monitoring, cost optimisation, and security controls.
• Manage and operate the Kafka/Confluent Cloud platform, including topic management, cluster health monitoring, and ensuring real-time data stream reliability.
• Administer the Fivetran platform, managing connectors, monitoring pipelines, and ensuring reliable data integration.
• Manage and operate the Airflow environment, including deploying DAGs, managing connections, and monitoring workflows.
• Govern the Azure Data Lake (ADLS Gen2), managing access controls (IAM), storage policies, and serving as a reliable raw data landing zone.
• Act as the technical point of contact for platform issues, liaising with security, network, and infrastructure teams to manage Azure integrations.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Experience: Solid background in Data Platform Administration, Data Operations, or Data Engineering with a focus on platform management within Azure.
• Azure Ecosystem Expertise: Hands-on experience with core Azure services like Data Lake, Active Directory, VNet, NSGs, and Private Endpoints.
• Platform Expertise: Administrative experience with Snowflake, Kafka, Fivetran, and Airflow.
• Technical Integration: Understanding of platform integration patterns within Azure, including VNet peering, firewall rules, and authentication protocols.
• Technical Skills: Strong SQL skills, scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash), and operational knowledge of orchestration tools like Airflow.
• Industry: Experience in Insurance or Financial Services sectors is advantageous.
