Preply, a global edtech platform based in Barcelona, is seeking a Senior Computational Linguist for a hybrid, full-time role in Engineering. You will combine linguistic expertise with AI to build language-learning solutions powered by AI.

You will formalise linguistic phenomena, design prompts, build datasets for training and evaluation, and evaluate model behaviour. Strong English and a relevant degree are required.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in Computational Linguistics, NLP, or a related role.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, including prompt design, evaluation, and model behaviour analysis.
• Proficiency in Python for data processing, evaluation, and automation.
• Strong understanding of datasets, annotation workflows, evaluation methods, and QA for AI systems.
• AI-native mindset: comfortable using AI tools for problem solving and automation.
• Strong qualitative and quantitative analysis for linguistic data and model behaviour.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Degree in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, NLP, Language Technology, or related field.
• Excellent command of English, spoken and written.

Responsabilités

• Formalise linguistic phenomena into rules, taxonomies, annotation criteria, and system or model requirements.
• Design, evaluate, and improve prompts for language-learning use cases.
• Build datasets for training, calibration, and evaluation with guidelines and QA processes.
• Evaluate model behaviour using qualitative and quantitative methods and validate fixes.
• Use Python to process linguistic data and automate evaluation.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, learning designers, and linguists to scale solutions across use cases and languages.
• Stay informed of NLP and LLM best practices and advances.
