Job summary

Helsing in Barcelona is seeking a senior mechanical design engineer to own the mechanical architecture and development of next-generation robotic systems. You will guide complex electromechanical platforms from concept through production, ensuring robustness, scalability, and real-world deployment.

Qualifications

• Shipped complex robotic/mechatronic/automated systems with ownership across product development cycles.
• Expert-level 3D CAD modeling, ideally SolidWorks, with GD&T for precision manufacturing.
• Applied structural and thermal FEA, static simulations, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Experience with diverse manufacturing processes (CNC, injection moulding, sheet metal, additive manufacturing) in high-mix or low-to-medium volume.
• Strong communication of complex technical decisions to cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead detailed design and integration of robotic subsystems (actuators, chassis, motion systems) and produce robust 3D assemblies and engineering drawings.
• Drive cross-functional integration with electrical and software teams for packaging, cable routing, thermal and sensor integration.
• Define material selection and fabrication methods; perform FEA, stress analysis, and tolerance stack-up for cost and lead-time goals.
• Establish mechanical engineering best practices, modelling standards, GD&T controls, and thorough technical documentation.
• Evaluate system architectures in design reviews, identify risks, and deliver high-impact, manufacturable solutions.
