Descripción de la vacante

Kraken seeks a Regulatory Affairs and Market Development lead to shape policy and market design in Spain, with a remit to support expansion into France and Italy/Portugal. You will translate regulatory complexity into commercial advantage and collaborate with sales, product and delivery teams to enhance market readiness.

You will build relationships with regulators, policymakers, and industry stakeholders, monitor developments, and influence digitalisation, pricing frameworks, and flexibility

Formación

  • 5+ years of experience within Spain’s energy sector, ideally at an energy regulator, energy supplier, or within an organisation directly influencing policy.
  • Strong understanding of energy regulation and the fundamentals of the green energy landscape, with awareness of broader European regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong networking and community-building skills – proven ability to connect with, influence, and engage key stakeholders to enhance Kraken’s profile within the Spanish energy market.
  • Analytical skills – ability to interpret policy, regulatory developments, and market trends, and communicate opportunities and challenges to the business.
  • Passion for energy transformation – a genuine interest in clean energy, sustainability, and the transition to a low‑carbon future.
  • Languages: fluency in Spanish and English

Responsabilidades

  • Own Kraken’s regulatory and market positioning in Spain
  • Build and maintain relationships with regulators, policymakers, clients, and industry stakeholders
  • Shape Kraken’s perspective on market design, reform, and regulatory evolution
  • Develop and execute advocacy strategies aligned with Kraken’s commercial objectives
  • Influence regulatory outcomes on key topics (digitalisation, pricing frameworks, flexibility market design)
  • Represent Kraken in industry forums, consultations, and policy forums
  • Partner with sales on strategic deals to address regulatory barriers affecting growth or delivery, improve client confidence in market readiness, and strengthen business cases to improve win rates
  • Support product and delivery teams by anticipating regulatory‑driven requirements and feeding into product roadmap prioritisation, reducing reliance on market‑specific product customisation
  • Monitor regulatory developments across Spain and, preferably, France/Portugal, translating these into clear, actionable recommendations to shape product changes and commercial decisions
  • Knowledge‑share and collaborate with RAMD colleagues across the EMEA region and globe, and support entry into additional markets where needed

Descripción del empleo

About the role

As energy systems rapidly evolve, regulation and market design have become core drivers of commercial success. This role sits in our Regulatory Affairs and Market Development team, which ensures that Kraken does not simply react to these changes but actively shapes them. You will operate at the intersection of policy, product and commercial strategy, ensuring that Kraken can successfully enter and scale in complex markets by translating regulatory complexity into commercial advantage, our clients can maximise the value of the platform within evolving regulatory frameworks, and market rules evolve in ways supportive of digital, platform‑led energy systems. The primary focus will be on leading the team’s work in Spain, with the ability to support a secondary market (likely France and/or Italy/Portugal).

Responsibilities
  • Own Kraken’s regulatory and market positioning in Spain
  • Build and maintain relationships with regulators, policymakers, clients, and industry stakeholders
  • Shape Kraken’s perspective on market design, reform, and regulatory evolution

  • Represent Kraken in industry forums, consultations, and policy forums
  • Partner with sales on strategic deals to address regulatory barriers affecting growth or delivery, improve client confidence in market readiness, and strengthen business cases to improve win rates
  • Support product and delivery teams by anticipating regulatory‑driven requirements and feeding into product roadmap prioritisation, reducing reliance on market‑specific product customisation

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in French energy markets and fluency in French, or regulatory expertise across other European markets (Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, or Denmark) along with proficiency in the relevant local language
  • Experience supporting international expansion and product and commercial strategy
