Senior Game Designer (Player)

IO Interactive is an independent video game development and publishing company with studios in Copenhagen, Malmö, Barcelona, Brighton, and Istanbul. As the creative force behind some of the most talked-about multiplatform video games in the last decade, we are dedicated to creating unforgettable characters and experiences – all powered by our award-winning proprietary Glacier technology.

A passion for fantasy worlds has long been ingrained in our studio, and we are now embarking on an exciting new journey into that realm. With a team of veteran IOI guild members and new industry talent, we are building an ambitious new IP for console and PC that aims to revolutionize the online fantasy RPG genre.

We are seeking a talented Senior Game Designer (Player) to join us in this new chapter. If you are passionate about creating dynamic and engaging characters that players will cherish for years, we would love to have you in our guild.

This is a permanent position based in one of our studios, with the option to work from home one day per week.

What you will do :

1. Conceptualize, design, and iterate to create distinctive player characters with unique abilities to enhance gameplay experiences.
2. Collaborate with narrative designers and animators to integrate compelling characters with dynamic abilities and exciting move sets.
3. Participate in regular play sessions to gather feedback and implement adjustments to perfect player dynamics and interactions.
4. Mentor junior designers and provide guidance on best practices in player design and development.

Who you are :

1. 5+ years of experience in game design, with a focus on character design in AAA games.
2. Proven track record of designing iconic characters with memorable personalities and skill sets.
3. Strong ability to collaborate across teams, including art and programming, to ensure cohesive integration.
4. Experience with balancing and tuning player character abilities in multiplayer environments.
5. Exceptional communication skills to convey complex ideas simply.
