We are seeking a Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of a complete Flight Dynamics System (FDS), including its integration with the Mission Control System (MCS). This is a key technical leadership role within our engineering team, with significant ownership and impact.
You will be responsible for defining the system architecture, implementing core algorithms, and ensuring the operational readiness of the FDS / MCS stack. You will work closely with satellite operators, mission analysts, and software developers to deliver a robust, validated, and production-grade solution.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end development of the Flight Dynamics System (FDS), including orbit determination, maneuver planning, station-keeping, and collision avoidance.
- Oversee the integration of the FDS with the Mission Control System (MCS), ensuring seamless interoperability and mission-critical performance.
- Collaborate with satellite operators to capture operational requirements and translate them into system capabilities.
- Design and implement high-precision algorithms for orbit propagation, attitude dynamics, and trajectory optimization.
- Conduct verification and validation (V&V) campaigns using real-world datasets and operational scenarios.
- Provide technical leadership to the engineering team and contribute to the strategic roadmap of our mission operations platform.
- Support customer deployments and provide expert guidance during mission preparation and execution.
Requirements
- M.Sc. or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Space Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the development and/or operation of Flight Dynamics Systems (FDS) and/or Mission Control Systems (MCS).
- Strong knowledge of orbital mechanics, astrodynamics, and spacecraft operations.
- Proficiency in scientific programming (e.g., Python, Java, or Fortran).
- Experience leading complex technical projects and delivering high-quality software in a collaborative environment.
- Experience working directly with satellite operators or in operational satellite missions.
- Based in Spain, with the ability to travel occasionally to Germany.
- Experience working with an international team, fully or partially remote.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with SSA / SST systems, sensor fusion, or catalog maintenance.
- Familiarity with ground segment software, mission planning tools, and telemetry/telecommand workflows.
Why us?
- Flexible work hours and a lean hierarchy where you define your own way of work.
- Work on groundbreaking space sustainability challenges with a top-tier team.
- Options for remote, hybrid, or in-office work in Germany or Spain after onboarding in Braunschweig.
- Technical freedom to influence system architecture and research methodologies.
- Access to training budgets, industry conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Regular knowledge-sharing sessions, technical deep dives, and innovation sprints.
- Company-wide events, social activities, and a strong engineering culture.
