The Head of Indication Repurposing and Innovation is responsible for establishing the drug repurposing capabilities within Alexion and overseeing the creation, development, and execution of research plans for drug repurposing projects. This role involves developing and implementing strategic plans for these projects.

Lead cross-functional multidisciplinary teams, including bioinformaticians, pharmacologists, and clinical researchers, to design and implement AI-based drug repurposing studies, ensuring cohesive project execution.

Proficiency in AI and machine learning techniques, particularly in biomedical data such as LLMs, knowledge graphs, and predictive analytics, is essential.

Project Management

Responsible for planning, executing, and managing multiple research projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion within budget, and meeting milestones.

Innovation and Research Development

Drive innovative approaches in drug repurposing, leveraging omics data and AI-based predictions through in silico methods and data mining.

Ability to effectively communicate research findings to collaborators, scientific communities, funding bodies, and executive management.

Funding and Resource Management

Manage resource allocation, including laboratory equipment, research staff, and financial budgets.

Qualifications

• Science Bachelor's degree and PhD, or 10-15 years of technical experience in drug discovery and development.
• Strong skills in senior internal collaborator management.
• Experience in people and project management within drug discovery, development, and clinical settings.
• Experience supervising a portfolio of indication projects.
• Experience working in an External Innovation department.
