About the role

DataCamp's infrastructure team, which is part of the Platform Engineering department, is a T-shaped cross-functional team that manages CI / CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure (deployed on AWS), logging, monitoring, and security. The team also oversees the data platform (deployed on GCP) and advises production engineering teams on infrastructure best practices. The team maintains the entire DataCamp Platform to ensure it is available for our customers.

We have a highly automated CI / CD pipeline based on CircleCI and Spotify Backstage (internal engineering portal) that enables developers to deploy rapidly, increasing deployment speed, ownership, and visibility. Our goal is to enhance developer productivity, scalability, availability, and security through continuous feedback and improvement cycles.

Your role will involve enabling development teams to deploy applications seamlessly, advising on infrastructure needs for new projects, managing company-wide shared resources supporting our microservice architecture, and building upon internal services. We prioritize self-serve automation for deployment and infrastructure provisioning, cost control, and security standards. You will be instrumental in planning improvements and managing your daily tasks.

All workloads are deployed on EKS (Kubernetes) with Istio service mesh via self-service pipelines. Infrastructure is provisioned using Terraform. The team manages the Kong API Gateway for external ingress and the Data Platform is deployed on BigQuery, with Airflow managing data pipelines.

Additionally, you will take ownership of our learn multiplexer product that schedules course sessions for learners.

The ideal candidate

• Has 2+ years of experience administering / maintaining infrastructure tools (AWS, Docker, K8s)
• Has 2+ years of experience advising on / implementing CI / CD pipelines
• Has 2+ years of security tooling experience (SonarCloud, vulnerability scanning)
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
• Interest in understanding and scaling complex systems
• Interest in monitoring and self-healing systems
• Highly organized with a flexible, proactive attitude and eagerness to learn
• Contributes to team improvement through code reviews, discussions, and documentation
• Ability to work collaboratively and build meaningful relationships

It's a plus if

• You understand data engineering principles
• You have experience with API gateways or service meshes (Kong, Istio, etc.)
• You are passionate about data science and education
