Job summary

SITA in Barcelona, Spain, seeks a Senior System Engineer/Lead Technical Analyst to define, design, and productize Datalink monitoring and configuration systems across our global infrastructure. You will lead system requirements, drive modernization, and ensure secure-by-design solutions that scale with our services.

You’ll mentor engineers, coordinate across software, architecture, and operations teams, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver observable, reliable platforms.

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience as a Lead technical Analyst or Lead System Engineer.
• Hands-on experience with container orchestration and modern observability ecosystems including Grafana Labs tools such as Alloy, Loki, Mimir (or Prometheus), Grafana, and OpenTelemetry Protocol.
• Deep expertise in software and system design, distributed systems, enterprise application development, and modern programming paradigms and frameworks.
• Experience in software integration, configuration management, APIs (REST, SNMP, TCP/IP), microservices, and backend systems in a distributed systems context.
• Solid understanding of software architecture principles, modern programming paradigms, and event-based systems (Kafka).
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineers technically — setting quality guidelines, conducting requirement definition and design reviews, and resolving complex technical challenges.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to coordinate technical discussions and collaborate effectively in an international, distributed engineering environment.
• Proficiency in AI-powered engineering tools for requirements management, static analysis, requirement definition, design, and documentation generation.
• Fluent in professional English.

Responsibilities

• Lead system requirement definition and design of next-generation Datalink Monitoring, Observability, Provisioning, and Configuration Management systems.
• Guide engineers technically across system design, implementation, and review activities, serving as principal technical contact.
• Enforce engineering quality through modern system definition practices, observability standards, and secure-by-design principles.
• Lead and participate in technical reviews to ensure solutions are high-quality, maintainable, testable, scalable, and supportable.
• Leverage AI tools to drive productivity, engineering quality, and delivery excellence.
• Drive modernization of legacy monitoring and configuration management assets while ensuring operational continuity.
• Define provisioning and configuration management capabilities aligned with SITA's stack, lifecycle, validation, deployment, and governance.
• Ensure solutions are resilient, scalable, production-ready, and aligned with long-term evolution of Datalink Observability and Configuration systems.
• Define and maintain backlog based on system development roadmap and business priorities.
• Act as technical lead across a distributed engineering team, providing direction and mentorship.
• Work with software engineers, architects, product managers, operations, and stakeholders to define system requirements and deliver solutions.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, ownership, and innovation across distributed teams.
• Lead the definition and design of Datalink Monitoring and Configuration systems, including telemetry, alerting, visualization, and operational capabilities.
• Deliver scalable and supportable system capabilities that improve operational efficiency and reliability.
• Ensure solutions adhere to secure-by-design principles and governance requirements.
• Create and maintain technical documentation leveraging AI tools.
• Keep knowledge of policies and ensure compliance.
• Explore and assess emerging technologies, AI tools, and industry developments.
• Recommend technical improvements to better meet user and operational needs.
