Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine seeks a Senior Data Scientist for Small Molecule Discovery. You will design data assets and analytics workflows, collaborating with medicinal chemists, automation scientists, data engineers, and technology teams to transform discovery data into AI-ready resources.

You will work at the intersection of science, data science, and data engineering to enable machine learning and AI-enabled discovery across the Design-Make-Test-Analyze cycle.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Chemistry, Cheminformatics, Data Science, Computer Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences research environments.
• Strong understanding of small-molecule discovery workflows, including molecular structures and reaction data.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake.
• Experience with molecular/reaction data using cheminformatics libraries.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality data assets for small-molecule discovery workflows.
• Transform molecular, synthesis, purification, and assay data into reusable datasets.
• Define data requirements, business rules, and analytical use cases.
• Develop scalable analytical workflows on cloud data platforms.
• Apply data science to extract insights from complex discovery datasets.
• Ensure data are structured, documented, and AI-ready.
• Mentor colleagues and collaborate across scientific and data teams.
