What does a Senior Data Scientist do at Busuu?

1. Data exploration and discovery: Extract data and use statistical techniques to analyze and visualize it to uncover actionable insights for making data-driven decisions.
2. Training dataset ETLs: Collaborate with ML Engineers to develop robust production-ready ETLs for generating training datasets and feature engineering jobs.
3. Advanced model development: Build and optimize machine learning models for predictive analytics, recommendation systems, generative AI, search, item response theory, lifetime value estimation, computer adaptive testing, spaced repetition, rating algorithms, churn prediction, and more.
4. Collaborative work: Collaborate with ML Engineers, Data Engineers, Business Analysts, and Product Managers to embed AI into user-facing and business-critical systems.
5. Innovate: Help shape AI, data science, and A/B testing strategies, and lead research spikes to explore new technologies and ML techniques like Deep Learning or LLMs.

What we’re looking for in a Senior Data Scientist:

1. Strong skills in Data Science and Machine Learning, with the ability to build, evaluate, and debug ML models. Good communication skills for diverse audiences.
2. Advanced programming skills in Python, SQL, and Git. Experience with AWS, Redshift, Sagemaker, Airflow, or Kubernetes is a plus.
3. A versatile Data Scientist capable of supporting different functions, understanding ML production challenges, and learning new techniques across domains.
4. Experience in the education or ed-tech sector is highly valued.
