Role Overview

As a Senior Data Manager, you will be at the heart of PASSNFLY's data ecosystem, transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive business decisions across multiple departments. You will ensure the integrity of data, automate workflows, and collaborate with engineering, operations, marketing, and management teams to streamline processes and improve strategies. The mission of your role is to help the company leverage data to improve marketing, operational processes, and engineering workflows. This involves ensuring alignment between research and data in the database, improving internal processes, and answering critical questions that guide strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Strategy & Governance: Ensure that data collected by the research department aligns with what is stored in the database. You will manage the flow of data, ensuring it is accurate, consistent, and actionable across all departments.
2. Analytics & Reporting: Use SQL / NoSQL queries (MySQL, MongoDB) to extract and deliver complex metrics that inform decision-making. Automate recurring reports to streamline data extraction for different teams.
3. Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with operations, development, marketing, and management teams to provide the necessary data and insights that optimize internal processes and guide strategic decisions.
4. Data Process Improvement: Advocate for automation tools and solutions that can eliminate manual tasks and improve efficiency, such as task schedulers, ETL pipelines, and better data visualization tools.
5. Metrics & Strategic Insights: Periodically extract critical information and develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to guide teams in making informed, data-driven decisions.
6. Tooling & Innovation: Use tools such as DBver, MySQL client, TablePlus, MongoDB, Asana, and Google tools to manage and analyze data. Contribute to the development and deployment of new tools to improve data management processes.

Qualifications

Must-Have:

1. Strong technical expertise in SQL (complex queries, performance optimization) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
2. Experience in database management and data governance, ensuring consistency and alignment between research data and stored data.
3. Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, macros, data modeling) to create meaningful reports.
4. Familiarity with data analytics and computer science, including the ability to perform complex queries and problem-solving.
5. Proven leadership experience, mentoring junior staff, and driving data strategy within the organization.
6. Business acumen with the ability to communicate data insights to non-technical teams and senior management.

Nice-to-Have:

1. Proficiency in Python or R for advanced analytics and data processing.
2. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) or big data tools (Spark, Hadoop).
3. Previous experience in the travel-tech industry is a plus.
