European Payments Initiative (EPI) is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to design and maintain scalable data pipelines for payments and analytics. You will ingest data from multiple sources into a governed lakehouse, enforce data contracts, and implement orchestration and CI/CD patterns in a privacy-first European environment.

You will collaborate with analytics, backend, fraud, finance and platform teams to deliver reusable data products with strong governance and performance optimization.

Formación

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering or backend data systems with production pipelines.
• Hands-on with Databricks or equivalent lakehouse platform including governance and Delta Lake design.
• Experience with orchestration, CI/CD and deployment automation; data contracts and schema validation.
• Strong data governance and privacy-by-design knowledge in regulated sectors (fintech/payments).
• Ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into dependable data products and metrics.
• Fluent English (CEFR C1/C2) and comfortable communicating asynchronously in a distributed team.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build and maintain reliable batch and near-real-time data pipelines for payments, settlements and analytics.
• Ingest and model data from operational systems, event stores and third-party sources into the lakehouse.
• Define data contracts, ownership, quality, freshness SLAs and breaking-change procedures.
• Implement orchestration, monitoring, retries, alerts and incident response for production-grade workflows.
• Apply governance, privacy-by-design, including GDPR/PSD2/DORA alignment, access controls and retention policies.
