We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to:
- Own the architecture and development of our core data platform, including the data warehouse and infrastructure
- Co-own and supervise data modeling in our collection tools
- Support diverse data system integrations
Please note, this is a Remote First role, open to candidates within + / - 2hrs CET, with a preference for Spain or Germany based candidates due to company registered locations.
How you'll help build oneData
- Data Platform Ownership: Lead design and implementation for scalability and robustness.
- Data Modeling: Engage in data modeling for third-party tools like Benchling, optimize data structures, and support stakeholders with insights.
- Data Visualization and Analytics Culture: Develop analytics layers for insights, ML development, and dashboards.
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: Manage cloud infrastructure supporting data operations.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the tech roadmap aligned with business goals.
- Supervision and Mentorship: Oversee and mentor juniors or interns to ensure best practices.
- Cross-Domain Collaboration: Work with domain experts, software engineers, and data scientists for seamless integration of services.
Who You Are
- At least 3 years of experience in data engineering and platform architecture, especially in startups or scale-ups.
- Experienced in data modeling and database design, including scientific data modeling.
- Proven ability to lead challenging projects in research or similar fields.
- Collaborative, open-minded communicator.
- Proficient in SQL and Python ETL pipelines.
- Knowledgeable in cloud services, with experience in GCP or AWS preferred.
- Comfortable working remotely/hybrid with cross-functional teams.
- Adaptable to changing technology and business needs.
- Willing to learn and stay updated with industry trends.
Optional: experience with materials engineering, chemistry, or biological data modeling.
