About the role and our team

The Knot Worldwide’s Data team is looking for a highly motivated, energetic team-player with a strong analytical mindset to join as a Senior Data Engineer supporting end-to-end data pipelines for our business. This role will partner closely with stakeholders and other Data teams to develop data models and data-driven solutions that enable deep analysis and self-service analytics for our Business Domains (Product, Marketing, Revenue and Core). The Senior Data Engineer is a hybrid role combining data engineering with potential work in business intelligence or reporting models. You will be responsible for building (leading) end-to-end data pipelines using tools like dbt, Airbyte, Airflow, and other modern data stack components. Proficiency in SQL, Python, data modeling, data transformation, and data visualization, plus collaboration skills and business acumen, are essential to enable data-driven decision-making.

The position is based at Wedding Planner’s head office in Barcelona. It offers remote-friendly options and the opportunity to work from Spain with a distributed team. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, build, and maintain end-to-end scalable data pipelines to collect, process, and analyze large and complex datasets from various sources, including website visitors behavioural tracking, customer data, transactional data and other business data using tools like Airbyte, Python and dbt to write mainly SQL-based data transformations and ensure the data is clean and ready for analysis
  • Apply dimensional modeling techniques to design tables and views that map business processes into an enterprise data model
  • Develop and support complex ETL infrastructure to ensure the delivery of clean and reliable data to the organization
  • Automate manual processes to improve efficiency, robustness, and speed
  • Participate in overall architecture and strategy for the deployment of end-to-end data pipelines
  • Partner with the Data Platform Engineering Teams to provide business logics to design, develop and move data pipelines into production
  • Partner with Director / Lead to define best practices, templates, scalable code for our tech stack development, mainly in dbt
  • Assist with performance and tuning of existing models, pipelines and data-applications
  • Foster data governance practices, ensuring data privacy and security, and documenting data pipelines, transformations, and models
  • Understand our business processes and apply this knowledge to best solve problems
  • Work with end users / stakeholders to understand their needs, provide insights, train on use of information models and data-applications in support of decisions
  • Clearly scope, track, execute, and communicate on projects in an Agile environment
  • Mentor other Data Engineering team members and provide technical leadership | oversee top-of-funnel metrics for at least one Business Domain or Pillar and ensure consistency in usage across models and reporting through documentation
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field)
  • 3+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining data models, pipelines, and data warehouses (Snowflake preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and dbt; strong Python skills
  • Experience with data integration & orchestration (Airbyte & Airflow) is a plus
  • Solid understanding of modern data engineering and architecture concepts, including cloud data warehousing, pipelines, data marts, and data integration
  • Ability to translate business requirements into data models and end-to-end pipelines
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with others; quick learner and collaborative
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with reporting tools or data applications (Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Streamlit) is a plus
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and JIRA is a plus
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) for an international work environment

Work Model

This role is Together@TKWW-eligible and based near one of our office hubs. Starting September 15, 2025, you’ll be expected to work in the office two days a week as part of our hybrid work model.
