Position Overview

As a Human Factors & Usability Engineer at INBRAIN, you will focus on usability for implantable neurostimulation systems and peripheral equipment. This position plays a key role in ensuring that our products are not only safe and compliant but also intuitive and accessible for patients, clinicians, and regulatory bodies.

Your Profile Main Responsibilities :

  • Conduct research to understand the needs of users, including clinicians and patients, focusing on cognitive and motor challenges (e.g., Parkinson's disease).
  • Gather insights through interviews, contextual inquiry, and task analysis.
  • Lead usability testing and evaluation for medical devices, identifying pain points, safety risks, and areas of improvement in user interfaces and workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with medical device usability standards (IEC62366, ISO14971, FDA).
  • Maintain the usability engineering file, including task analysis, use specifications, and risk assessments.
  • Work closely with engineers, clinical teams, regulatory bodies, and quality assurance to ensure that the device design integrates user-centered principles while meeting regulatory and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with neurosurgeons and clinical teams to define, map, and document the surgical procedure for implanting the device.
  • Identify critical steps, ergonomic considerations, and potential risks to ensure the process is safe and efficient.
  • Provide detailed documentation for use in training and process development.
  • Collaborate with software developers, clinicians, and designers to define, map, and document the requirements for software and applications used by patients and clinicians.
  • Create and refine prototypes, wireframes, and mockups to validate design choices through formative and summative evaluations.
  • Lead design revisions based on real user feedback and usability findings.
  • Contribute to the identification and mitigation of use errors, safety concerns, and hazardous situations through usability testing, UMFMEA, and risk management processes.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required, approximately 10-20% per year, primarily for user research, meetings with clinical teams, and conferences or workshops.
