Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. in Seville, Spain seeks an experienced R&D Senior Control Engineer to design and validate advanced control solutions for power converters, with focus on Grid-Forming technologies and data center applications.

You will develop GFM and GFL strategies, model and optimise control loops, and implement real-time algorithms in C while using MATLAB/Simulink and Python for tools and simulations. Collaboration across international teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Automation or related field.
• Strong knowledge of control theory and power converter control.
• Experience with GFM and GFL, BESS, and data center applications.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, and C/Python programming.
• Experience with HIL validation and lab testing.
• Excellent English and ability to collaborate in international teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced control architectures and algorithms for power converters, BESS, and Data Center applications.
• Develop Grid-Forming (GFM) and Grid-Following (GFL) control strategies, including regulation and islanding capabilities.
• Model and optimise current, voltage, active/reactive power, and DC bus control loops for stability.
• Implement real-time control algorithms in C and develop MATLAB/Simulink and Python tools.
• Validate control solutions through simulation, SIL/HIL testing, and lab experiments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary R&D teams to ensure grid code compliance and system integration.
