Job summary

H2SITE in Basque Country, Spain is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to ensure installation, testing and optimization of hydrogen production systems. You will lead FAT/SAT, PLC checks, and on-site commissioning across plants and will supervise subcontractors and participate in HAZOPs.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering with 10+ years in commissioning assets, experience with industrial gases, and PMP certification. Travel to project sites and customer facilities is expected.

Qualifications

• Engineering Bachelor's degree.
• 10+ years’ experience in commissioning assets (compressors, gas skids, CHPs, engines).
• Experience with industrial gases (hydrogen, ammonia, methanol).
• PMP certification and project leadership experience.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and supplier/customer locations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the technology department to prepare equipment for mechanical commissioning during hydrogen production plant projects.
• Lead PEM functions for H2SITE equipment on site.
• Lead FAT and SAT tests.
• Perform mechanical leak tests.
• Check PLC control and test equipment.
• Document and report findings; maintain records of planning and calibration.
• Prepare operational monitoring and commissioning reports.
• Supervise subcontractors on H2SITE facilities and projects.
• Support in HAZOP studies for H2SITE projects.
• Identify hazards to HSQE and communicate preventive measures.
• Oversee Factory Acceptance Test of membrane reactors and separators in Bilbao.
• Be responsible for startup of equipment units (pumps, controllers, filters, burners).
• Identify control loops for autonomous operation.
• Support reactor design with operational feedback.
• Capitalize information for continuous improvement.
