Statkraft in Madrid is seeking a Senior Commercial Analyst to join the Renewables Forecasting Team (MEXF) and help manage end-to-end forecasts for Wind and Solar across European markets.

The role requires strong quantitative skills, programming experience (Python), and English communication abilities. You will work closely with the MEXF team to enhance forecast accuracy and support commercial decision-making.

Qualifications

• Excellent university degree in mathematics, physics, meteorology, engineering or business with a strong quantitative focus
• Several years of experience in renewable power forecasting for short-term power markets
• Experience with numerical weather models is an advantage
• Strong analytical and investigative skills
• Significant modelling and programming experience, preferably in Python
• Ability to solve analytical problems within limited timeframes when necessary
• Proactive and independent way of working
• Excellent communication skills in English

Responsabilités

• Analyse, monitor and benchmark the performance of renewables forecasts from external providers and create combined forecasts
• Identify, evaluate and implement statistical forecast improvements
• Lead the use of AI/ML tools to develop new models
• Create and improve renewables forecasts for our Spanish portfolio based on numerical weather models
• Develop statistical arbitrage strategies based on renewable forecast data
• Support the operational forecasting duty by identifying and resolving operationally critical incidents
• Support the preparation of ad-hoc commercial analyses for internal and external stakeholders
• Regularly update stakeholders on recent developments and performance evaluations
