About The State Hospital

The State Hospital, located in South Lanarkshire, is the high secure forensic mental health and learning disability service for patients from Scotland and Northern Ireland. The principal aim is to support patients' safe transfer to appropriate lower levels of security.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and compassionate individual to join our specialist team as a Senior Charge Nurse within high secure forensic care. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to take a key leadership role in delivering high-quality care to individuals with complex mental health and / or learning disabilities.

Candidate Requirements

  • First-Level Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse
  • Post-registration experience relevant to forensic mental health or learning disability nursing
  • Ability to demonstrate continued professional development
  • Professional and managerial accountability for ward care
  • Proven leadership in service improvement and team development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of financial and resource management

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire staff in a challenging environment
  • Ensure safe, person-centred, evidence-based care
  • Manage complex and evolving care needs
  • Participate in out of hours rota, including shift work and weekends
