Job summary

Softlanding is seeking an experienced Business Data Analyst to bridge business stakeholders and data/engineering teams within the Data Platform. The role focuses on translating business needs, enabling FP&A and accounting data projects, and driving agile delivery across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have strong data literacy, proficiency in Python and SQL, and the ability to act as deputy Product Owner while promoting data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience as a Business Data Analyst or Business Analyst.
• Experience in FP&A or accounting data projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead business requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation activities.
• Write, manage, and refine user stories for engineering teams.
• Lead refinement and solution design discussions bridging business needs and tech.
• Develop prototypes and mock-ups to support clarification.
• Collaborate with stakeholders during solution acceptance to ensure delivery.
• Translate requirements into technical specs for data engineers.
• Capture and analyze business processes to identify improvements for the Data Platform.
• Act as Data Platform evangelist to promote adoption and best practices.
• Support Product Owner activities including backlog refinement and delivery coordination.
• Contribute to Agile ceremonies and cross-team collaboration.
• Support data-driven decision-making through advanced data analysis.
