Job summary

Veriff is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Trust team. You will build backend services that validate identity data against country-specific sources, expanding global coverage and ensuring reliable launches.

You will model diverse upstream data, implement robust testing, monitoring, and on-call practices, and collaborate with Product, Compliance, and data providers to maintain trust online.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building large-scale backend applications in Python.
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs at scale.
• Ownership of production-critical services and on-call experience.
• Strong data modelling for multi-source data.
• Solid understanding of modular design and SOLID principles.
• Experience building scalable APIs.
• Relational database fundamentals.
• Observability and logging practices knowledge.
• Strong communication with Product, Compliance, and data partners.
• GDPR/regulatory data residency familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate Veriff Trust backend services — integrations with external identity data sources and validation logic.
• Expand global coverage by onboarding new countries and data sources.
• Model heterogeneous upstream data into clean verification results.
• Ensure resilience to upstreams with timeouts, retries, idempotency, backpressure, and monitoring.
• Handle sensitive personal data with regional data residency and compliance from the start.
• Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and postmortems.
• Drive engineering quality via code reviews, CI, runbooks, and mentoring teammates.
