N26 is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer - Engagement to build scalable backend systems for the Grow & Engage domain, shaping the customer journey from signup to premium membership. You will partner with product, tech leads and designers to translate user needs into robust services powering daily engagement.

The role blends hands-on development with architectural exploration in a cross-functional fintech environment with hybrid work in Barcelona.

Formación

• Experience with JVM language and Spring Boot in large-scale production systems (Kotlin a plus).
• Strong understanding of microservice architecture and cloud-based design.
• Relational (PostgreSQL preferred) and NoSQL databases knowledge.
• Experience in fintech product environment and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsabilidades

• Build scalable backend systems for the Grow & Engage domain.
• Collaborate with Product Owner, Tech Lead and Designers to translate needs into scalable backend solutions.
• Contribute across the full feature lifecycle: discovery, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance.
• Stay current with technology trends and propose new ideas or architectures during Get Stuff Done Days (GSDD).

In this role you will build scalable backend systems for the Grow & Engage domain, shaping the customer journey from signup to premium membership. You’ll partner with product, tech leads and designers to translate user needs into robust services that power daily engagement. The position blends hands‑on development with architectural exploration in a mission‑driven, cross‑functional environment. You’ll work hybrid in Berlin or Barcelona, contributing to a fast‑paced, innovative fintech team.

• Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development while maintaining quality
