N26 busca un/a Ingeniero/a Backend Senior para trabajar en el dominio Grow & Engage, en un equipo orientado al producto que impulsa desde el registro hasta membresías y engagement diario.

Trabajarás en sistemas backend escalables, colaborando con Product Owner, Tech Lead y Diseñadores para traducir necesidades en experiencias sólidas que sirvan a nuestros usuarios desde el día uno. Es un rol híbrido basado en Barcelona o Berlín.

Formación

• Experiencia en desarrollo con un lenguaje JVM y Spring Boot en sistemas de producción a gran escala (la experiencia con Kotlin es una ventaja).
• Conocimiento de arquitectura de microservicios.
• Conocimiento de bases de datos relacionales (preferiblemente Postgres) y no relacionales.
• Experiencia en arquitecturas en la nube modernas, preferentemente AWS.
• Se valora el uso de herramientas de IA para acelerar el desarrollo sin comprometer la calidad.
• Mentalidad orientada al producto: primero pregunta por qué, luego qué y luego cómo.
• Gran sentido de propiedad y capacidad de emprender iniciativas desde ideas hasta resultados.
• Habilidad para negociar alcance y plazos realistas, y entregar código de calidad.
• Se valora la seguridad y la escritura de código bien probado y documentado.

Responsabilidades

• Realizar descubrimiento, diseño, desarrollo, pruebas, despliegue y mantenimiento de software en un entorno ágil.
• Gestionar prioridades y entregables de proyectos dentro de un equipo orientado a compartir conocimiento.
• Mantenerse al día con las últimas tendencias tecnológicas.
• Proponer ideas de producto, construir herramientas técnicas o explorar nuevos enfoques arquitectónicos durante los Get Stuff Done Days (GSDD).

You will work in the Grow & Engage domain—the heart of the N26 experience.

From initial signup to premium memberships and daily engagement, you’ll work in teams delivering innovative features that serve our customers.

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with product-centric mindset to join our mission-driven team.

As a vital contributor throughout the entire feature lifecycle, you will partner closely with Product Owner, Tech Lead and Designers to translate user needs into the seamless, scalable backend systems that empower our users from day one.

This is a hybrid role based in Berlin or Barcelona.

We value in-person collaboration and expect our employees to spend at least 8 days per month in the office.

In this role, you will:

• Do discovery, design, develop, test, deploy and maintain software in a thriving environment.
• Manage individual project priorities and deliverables whilst working in a team who enjoy knowledge sharing sessions.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends in technology.
• Propose new product ideas, build tech tools or try out new architectural approaches during our Get Stuff Done Days (GSDD).

What you need to be successful:

• Experience in developing software using a JVM language and Spring Boot in large-scale production systems (note: experience of Kotlin would be a plus).
• In-depth understanding of microservice architecture.
• Knowledge of both relational (preferably Postgres) and non-relational databases.
• Appreciation of working in a modern cloud architecture, preferably with AWS.
• You know your way around using AI tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development without sacrificing quality.
• Traits: Product-centric mindset, first you ask “why”, then “what” and only then think of “how”.
• Strong sense of ownership: you take initiatives from early-stage ideas all the way to customer-facing results.

• Negotiating delivery scope and providing realistic timelines are just as important to you as writing code.
• Strong call to action and for getting things done
• Ongoing appreciation and consideration for security
• Motivation to write code which is well-tested and well-documented
• Give and receive open, direct and timely feedback
