Job Purpose

As a Senior Backend Developer specializing in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), you will be a key member of our digital solutions team within the IT Center in Madrid, Spain. Your primary responsibility will be to architect, develop, and maintain robust, scalable backend systems that power Vorwerk’s digital content and customer experience platforms. You will work closely with internal clients, end users, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, enterprise-level solutions using Adobe’s Digital Marketing Product Suite.

Main Accountabilities and Activities

• AEM Backend Development Architect, develop, and maintain scalable backend solutions using
• Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
• Implement custom AEM components, templates, services, and workflows.
• Develop RESTful APIs and integrations with external systems (CRM, DAM, ERP, etc.).
• Ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices and security standards.
• Develop and support production-grade features, ensuring low-defect and high-quality deliverables on schedule.
• Provide production support and resolve complex backend issues.

System Integration & Optimization

• Integrate AEM with existing enterprise solutions and third-party platforms.
• Optimize backend performance for large-scale deployments and high-volume traffic.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend issues in production and development environments.

Technical Leadership

• Mentor and review the work of junior developers; share knowledge of AEM best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical design sessions.
• Contribute to solution architecture, including data modeling, caching, and wkflow strategies.
• Validate that development partners follow standard AEM platform delivery processes.
• Work closely with frontend developers, QA engineers, DevOps, business analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver cohesive solutions.
• Frequently communicate with business and technology stakeholders.
• Document technical designs, system processes, and procedures for ongoing support and knowledge sharing.

Expertise, Technical Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of backend development experience, with at least 3 years focused on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM 6.x+).
• Strong proficiency in Java, OSGi, JCR, Sling, and RESTful web services.
• Experience with AEM deployment, configuration, and maintenance in cloud and on-premises environments.
• Solid understanding of integration patterns, authentication (OAuth, SAML), and security best practices.
• Experience with AEM / CQ5 building blocks, including templates, components, dialogs, widgets, and bundles.
• Familiarity with AEM TouchUI and HTML (Sightly) templating language.
• Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and version control (Git).
• Experience with Java Content Repository API suite, Sling web framework, Apache Felix OSGi framework, and DAM.
• Experience with Cloud Manager is a plus.

Preferred Skills

• Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) – Adobe Experience Manager Sites Developer certification.
• Experience with Headless CMS, GraphQL, or hybrid AEM architectures.
• Familiarity with other Adobe Marketing Cloud products.
• Exposure to DevOps practices and infrastructure automation.
