What will you be doing?

• Octopus Energy Engineering is responsible for the sites, services, and tariffs used by millions of Octopus Energy customers worldwide. This includes building innovative time-of-use tariffs and engaging customer experiences like providing meter readings through interactive tools.
• You’ll encounter a variety of challenges as we push the energy revolution forward. Our multidisciplinary teams collaborate across countries, providing the resources needed to build impactful solutions.
• We are expanding rapidly, and the Octopus Energy Engineering team is at the forefront. We are seeking a Backend Developer to work closely with UK teams and others, focusing on developing and integrating new website and mobile app features.
• The role involves working on modules such as the private area, bill management, customer onboarding, and marketing dashboards.
• Our team is driven by the mission to make a direct impact on customers, with a fast-paced environment that values quick feedback and adaptability.

What you'll need

• An interest in technology and problem-solving, combined with diligence and thoughtfulness.
• Experience or expertise in the following areas (in rough priority):
• Python
• Django or equivalent web frameworks
• GraphQL and REST APIs
• Writing robust and fault-tolerant software
• Celery and asynchronous processing

Plus experience in the following would be a bonus:

• Terraform, Packer, Consul
• React
